Dear SBI members and friends,
This is the first issue of Not Quite eMomentum. As many of you know, eMomentum has been SBI’s newsletter for years. But now, thanks to our new arrangement with Affinity Resource Group (see Ron Cook’s message below) we hope to drive you to our constantly improving website (http://www.smallbusinessinstitute.biz). Here you’ll find the latest SBI news such as our 2010 Conference information and submission requirements for papers, workshops and the Student Consulting Project Competition (formerly Case of the Year competition ).
In the meantime:
President’s Message
Dear Small Business Institute® Members and Friends:
Welcome to what promises to be an active year for the Small Business Institute ®! We have an excellent management team in place with our 2009 board, and they have some exciting news:
After almost 35 years as an all-volunteer run organization, we are very pleased to announce that SBI has taken the next step in growing the organization by hiring a professional association management firm to provide a home base for our operations. Affinity Resource Group, LLC (ARG) will oversee SBI's day-to-day administrative operations. Go to our revamped website, www.smallbusinessinstitute.biz, and check out our new look. As part of our new arrangement, SBI is committed to providing more information and a faster response to our member requests.
As many of you know, I was the 2009 SBI conference chair. We pioneered a number of new initiatives this year, including a dedicated conference website. We had a wonderful event in St. Petersburg, Florida, full of dynamic presentations and many opportunities to make/renew friendships. Our conference winners are now listed on the main SBI website, as well as the link to the 2009 conference site where conference summary information is located.
I also want to remind everyone that it is not too early to be planning for the 2010 conference in Albuquerque on February 18-20, 2010. Please contact the 2010 Program Chair, Stephanie Bardwell, at bardwell@cnu.edu for further information and stay tuned to our website for further updates.
Thank you for being part of the Small Business Institute®.
Best regards,
Ron Cook, Ph.D.

And a new feature to be introduced with the next issue of Not Quite eMomentum:
Member’s Showcase
We’d like to invite you to share an example of the publicity your SBI program has garnered inside or outside of your institution. The approximate deadline for the next issue is 8/1. Hope your example will be among those from which I’ll select one or two for publication!
Last Word
I want to thank Craig Zemzow and Ron Cook for their thoughtful suggestions on how to move from what had been eMomentum to Not Quite eMomentum as we move to a greatly improved website as our key communications device. Your comments are actively encouraged.
Thanks,
Paul Belliveau
